Purpose

 JOB TITLE:  Head of IT - HomeLet


REPORTING TO:  HomeLet, Managing Director 


MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:


To lead and inspire a team of system and software developers to maintain HomeLet’s internal and external IT systems. To provide the IT technology infrastructures for HomeLet, delivering the implementation of new software products to the business.  Working effectively as part of the HomeLet Senior Management team.

 


KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITES:


• To ensure the ongoing operation of systems and applications and improve the IT service through the use of proven processes, service levels and a proactive approach to increase the stability and accuracy of the portfolio

• To support the delivering of an aggressive change agenda

• To develop and inspire a high performing and motivated team capable of delivering its contribution to the business plan

• To deliver efficiencies within the business to enable cost savings

• To manage the operational and project budgets and continuously look for opportunities to provide better value for money and ensure maximum return on investment

• To ensure IT adhere to all regulatory requirements, e.g. the FSA’s rules and principles, DPA and Money Laundering regulations and all facets of Treating Customers Fairly are embedded and supported in all deliverables

• To balance the needs of different stakeholders i.e. Insurance Sales department, Customer Services department

• To maintain and develop the company website

• To develop and control the IT security policy

• To be responsible for IT hardware, software and maintenance procurement

• To work closely with the Business Change Team

• To ensure adequate communication of all IT activities to employees on a regular basis

• To develop a set of IT contingency plans that cater for disaster

• To manage IT suppliers, providing challenge and value for money




PERSON SPECIFICATION


Essential

Education / Qualifications

or equivalent

• Software development degree or equivalent. Be educated to ‘A’ level. In subjects which demonstrate a sound grasp of logic and reason


Essential

Experience / Knowledge

• A strong track record of providing robust IT operational services

• At least 10 years IT experience some of which within the insurance/financial industry

• Working knowledge of internet technologies

• Practical working experience required and/ or certifications for: Perl, PHP, MySQL, Linux and HTML

• Leading and inspiring team of service desk and software developers
